Abstract

COSTA, Eliane Miranda. RIVERSIDE SCHOOLS AND THEIR CHALLENGES: faces of field education in Marajoara Amazon. Revista Teias [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.66, pp.384-397.  Epub Feb 06, 2023. ISSN 1982-0305.  https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2021.51951.

The text discuss the educational challenges, difficulties and perspectives of students and teachers from riverside schools on Marajó archipelago, on Mapuá River, municipality of Breves. It is anchored in the writings of authors such as Hage (2005), Caldart (2004; 2009; 2020), Arroyo (2004; 2011), and others. The methodology involved semi-structured interviews, ethnographic observations and the analysis of the Curricular Proposal for Elementary Education of Breves field schools. The empirical data in dialogue with the theoretical basis revealed that students and teachers face material and pedagogical. Although such a fragility, the school is, for students and families in Mapuá, hope for building other alternatives of life in the forest, in addition to valuing their knowledge and cultural tradition. Hence the conclusion that the school is characterized as a tactic for the riverside peoples of Mapuá / Marajó to project, on the edges of the urban-centric paradigm, perspectives for the future.
