This article presents an excerpt of the results of a master’s research, whose objective was to investigate the extent to which a degree in history at a private Higher Education Institution (HEI) provides the training of teachers in theoretical and methodological aspects from a gender perspective. It is characterized by the qualitative descriptive approach of the case study type with theoretical gender support. The corpus was obtained through the semi-structured interview and documentary research, analyzed through textual discursive analysis. The appreciation of the corpus enabled the construction of categories - and their subcategories - denominated gender and gender and training. The results showed the existence of some obstacles that limit the gender approach in the history degree course of the investigated private higher education institution, since the discussion about gender relations is presented in a secondary way in the subjects of the course and does not prepare to approach about the theme. The perception of gender issues establishes a critical and reflective posture and, if the education professional is not provided with theoretical and methodological knowledge, he can make his practice partial on the subject.
