The theoretical discussion takes as reference studies on early childhood education, mathematics education in childhood and the profile of teacher trainers. The results, resulting from the information possibilities via interviews, found that the trainers affirm that the degree in question needs to broaden the discussions about the concept of child and the curricular specificities of the first years of life in a broad relation with the assumptions of childhood education, because they consider it relevant to realize that it is not the role of early childhood education to school, but rather to think of a mathematical curriculum mediated by interactions and play.
