Abstract

The abstraction of the presence - the sublimation of the body and the disregard of the senses - is, as Hans Gumbrecht would say, one of the effects of metaphysics by which takes place the “loss of the world”, the radical decorpocorporality required by modern reason. Fueled by the philosophical conceptions of Modernity, this tendency was constantly emphasized by the educational theories that are still influential in the pedagogical environments, being sedimented by the inherent limitations of the widely established school model. The criticism and the overcoming of this way of being are configured today as an potencialy political urgency to confront the multiple threats to Brazilian society, and particularly to all groups that make body against intolerance, against racism, and finally against Achille Mbembé called “necropolitics”. But is the philosophy of education prepared to meet such an urgency?
