Abstract

PRATES, Fernanda Ramos Oliveira  and  TEIVE, Gladys Mary Ghizoni. New school in Primary Education: an analysis of photographic images of School Group Lauro Müller (1946 - 1947). Cad. Hist. Educ. [online]. 2015, vol.14, n.1, pp.187-208.  Epub Mar 20, 2024. ISSN 1982-7806.  https://doi.org/10.14393/che-v14n1-2015-12.

In this article we analyze the practice of five Auxiliary Associations in the Elementary School Lauro Müller, in Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina, in 1946 and 1947. Led by students, these Auxiliary Associations aimed to help transform the school into an “embryonic society”. To understand how the “Lauro Müller” operated this and other New School based objectives were analyzed from the perspective of intertextuality, a series of nine images interconnect with official documents and reports submitted by the direction of this school group to the Department of Education. Such analysis allowed us to observe a blend of innovative and traditional practices, leading us to conclude that it is in the intersection between tradition and innovation that the images offer us a wider range of possibilities in the history of education, specifically in the field of school culture.
