Abstract

This article focuses on the administrative-bureaucratic apparatus of the São Paulo public education, promoted by the Regulation of November 8, 1851. They were used as sources: the legislative framework established in 1851 and reports of the then Inspector General Diogo de Mendonça Pinto presented to the President of the Province between the years 1852 and 1868. The categories of Weberian bureaucratic organization were used to give theoretical support to this analysis.
