From the discovery of a copy of the magazine A Escola Normal edited in Rio de Janeiro in 1926 and dedicated entirely to Comenius is made in this paper an analysis of the reception of the Moravian educator in Brazilian education in the first decades of the last century. The paper seeks to identify the various representations of the work of Comenius circulating in educational media at the time and that were present in the Rio periodical. Revealing important aspects of educational reform then undertaken by Carneiro Leão in the Federal Capital, this source provides subsidies that we consider relevant to the debate about the meaning of the New School movement in Brazilian education.
