Abstract

SILVA, Helena Lopes da. Mediating young people's musical listening: a proposal for music education in regular schools. Rev. Reflex [online]. 2014, vol.22, n.1, pp.122-147. ISSN 1982-9949.  https://doi.org/10.17058/rea.v22i1.0122.

This paper reflects upon the meanings of music classes for the final years of primary and secondary schools. The "state of the art" of Brazilian researches involving youth; music and school (ARROYO, 2009; MIRANDA and SILVA, 2013); the legalization of music education as a mandatory content for basic education (Law 11.769/08); and the Project Resolution (CNE/CEB, 2013), that suggests the institutionalization of music as a compulsory curriculum subject, indicate the need to systematize proposals for music education for the youth. From the sociological perspective of Musical Pedagogy (GREEN, A-M., 1987; PIATTI, 1994; KRAEMER, 2000), that comprises the symbolic relationships young people have with their musical choices as the main objective for teaching and learning in regular schools, the perspective of mediation of musical listenning (GREEN, 1997; HENNION, 2003) is suggested as a possibility for music classes.
