Abstract

PEREIRA, Márcia Moreira  and  BRAULIO, Wendell Lopes de Azevedo. AFRO-BRAZILIAN LITERATURE AT SCHOOL: RACIAL LITERACY AND AFROLITERACY AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR ANTI-RACIST EDUCATION. Eccos Rev. Cient. [online]. 2023, n.66, e25178.  Epub Feb 19, 2024. ISSN 1983-9278.  https://doi.org/10.5585/eccos.n66.25178.

This article deals with the relationship between the use of Afro-Brazilian Literature at school as a resource for the development of racial literacy and Afro-literacy. Seeking to relate both concepts (racial literacy and afro-literacy) with practices related to the social use of language, it also proposes their relationship with an anti-racist education, as a way of valuing the Brazilian Afro-descendant identity and fighting prejudice and discrimination.

Keywords : Afro-Brazilian literature; racial literacy; afro-literacy; antiracist education..
