This article is result of a research that aimed to investigate the process of pedagogical mediation between professors and disabled students in college classes. Linked to broader research, which aimed to cause tension in the policy of inclusion of students with disabilities in higher education as well as understanding the effects of this process in the teaching. The empirical material, collected through narrative interviews with ten professors of disabled students in different undergraduate courses, was examined by the perspective of discourse analysis, supported by Foucauldian references. The text highlights the commitment of professors to promote inclusion and learning, as also to establish themselves as mediators. The study points out that professors are subjected to the inclusion discourses, which result in loving and supportive behaviors. The complexity of the process becomes explicit when professors experience this challenge and need to restructure their pedagogical practices. Teaching the "different" is a chance for the distinct areas of professional active in the higher education knowledge find out that even dominating the specific content and earning academic degrees is not enough, since teaching is another profession, it is the meeting with the new, with the unpredictable.
