This article aims to develop a theoretical and experiential reflection from the University Teaching discipline in Health: Formation of professional identity, offered by the Graduate in Nursing at the Ribeirão Preto School of Nursing, University of São Paulo Program in the fall of 2013. The teacher's work is a constant learning, for the professional identity is permeated by everyday to himself, this being built, maintained or modified in the close relationship that individuals have with reality. Discuss teacher training implies a complex activity, as well as the profession itself, involves tensions and dilemmas that constitute the needs and the identity of its actors: teachers. Thus, the teaching identity constitution is by perception of self, others and with others, this plurality experienced in existence is also reflected in the pluralism that is practiced teaching.
