The number of studies pointing at poor results concerning teacher’s education in Latin America has increased during the last years. In this sense, it is necessary to inquiry about the future directions of teacher’s education. In this paper, the author analyzes and takes into consideration some initiatives promoted by the USA and Australia, as well as England, Holland, Finland and Sweden. Among the innovations, the author points out the alternative academic degree, the articulation between the education process and the schools, the accreditation and external evaluation of the education institutions, the research focused on teaching practices and the use of evidences in the education programs.
