SOUZA, Tiago Zanquêta de  and  NOVAIS, Gercina Santana. Narratives of a popular educator: the struggle and propositive resistance of women in dialogue with the history of Popular Education. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2022, vol.27, e0220055.  Epub Apr 10, 2024. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.v27.e0220055.

This article has as its theme the history of Popular Education in dialogue with the narratives of a popular educator. It aims, therefore, to rescue, in these narratives, the historicity of Popular Education evidenced in the struggle of women and in the popular propositional resistance movements undertaken by them, in order, consecutively, to reflect on the continuity of this struggle and this resistance that has been strengthening the assumptions of Education. Popular in its history, given the situation triggered by the Sars-Cov-II pandemic, especially with regard to care and solidarity practices. Through an investigative process of a qualitative nature, the narratives that are linked to the Life Stories of a popular educator were recorded, transcribed, read and analyzed in an attempt to understand and interpret her experiences. Thus, it was possible to understand that the historical trajectory of Popular Education is also carried out by women who fought and resisted purposefully over time, inserting themselves together with grassroots ecclesiastical movements, pastorals, social movements, left-wing political parties, contributing for the transformation of reality that became oppressive and excluding. And, with the Sars-Cov-II pandemic, such protagonism is revealed even more, especially through the care practices they experience, which strengthens the premises that support Popular Education as a liberating project and strengthening human dignity.

Keywords : Popular Education; Popular propositional resistance; Life stories.
