Abstract

To demonstrate the elements of continuity between the proposed rural education program of the 1950s and ProJovem Campo Saberes da Terra today, we related developmentalism, the role of international organizations and educational projects in these periods. We made explicit in the 1950s, the modernization of the culture of the people and farming techniques, strategies for obtaining social benefits and control of peasant movements. As the guidelines of international organizations from the 1990s, we made explicit emphasis on poverty reduction and environmental protection as conditions for economic development, in the proposal of sustainable development, as the leadership of social movements is emphasized.
