Abstract

The study presents an analysis of the circulation of school furniture in Primary Public Instruction in Pará between the years 1889 and 1910. Based on reflections on the catalogs of French and North American companies, we raise the following issue: which models did diffusers of materiality circulate in Pará through catalogs? How was the acquisition and sale of school furniture for Public Instruction in Pará? Methodologically, documentary research was carried out based on a survey of sources in the Public Archive of the State of Pará. The results reveal the strategies of the Pará administration leaders and the influences on the circulation of catalogues, showcases of universal knowledge for the modernization of systems educational.
