Abstract

ALVES, MARCOS ALEXANDRE. THE ETHICAL PRINCIPLE OF RESPONSIBILITY: APPEAL FOR A PRUDENT SCIENTIFIC TEACHING. Rev. Comunic [online]. 2016, vol.23, n.2, pp.53-68. ISSN 2238-121X.  https://doi.org/10.15600/2238-121X/comunicacoes.23n2p53-68.

The paper examines the degree of influence of scientific guidelines in everyday life, in the process of decision taking about the future, in the scientist responsibility as technical and human being, and also in the role of society towards the survival of life on the planet. It discusses up, supported by Hans Jonas, man’s enchantment with the direction of biotechnology, which radically changed the thinking and the action and brought serious risks and threat to life. The promises of science have placed traditional ethics in crisis and, at the same time, postulated new horizons of reflection, that is, beyond the perspective of the next act are the rights of future generations included in contemporary ethical debates. It is defended, from the ethical responsibility principle, a prudent scientific teaching, for leading-edge technologies are about to unleash processes whose consequences are unknown and can bring risks, in the short and long term, for human and extra human life.
