The objective of this study was to understand the inconsistency between teaching and learning in the discipline of chemistry, taking into account the learning experience and the difficulties expressed by the students of the third year of high school. Is research was guided by qualitative approach, according to the assumptions of complexity theory and the grounded theory. For data collection was used a structured questionnaire, which enables us to demonstrate, the student's view, that chemistry is a complex discipline, however, indispensable to understand life, it is essential that the contents are substantiated in their daily lives in order to facilitate their understanding.
