Abstract

This paper aims to present and discuss the Agente de Leitura project, an initiative of reading promotion for families in situation of social vulnerability in the State of Bahia, more specifically in the city of Serrolândia . This initiative includes the second axis stipulated by the Plano Nacional do Livro e Leitura (PNLL): Promotion of reading and training of mediators. This is a participant research, in which one of the researchers was systematically and permanently involved in the project. Although the project is a significant initiative, it presents problems that compromise its implementation and effectiveness. Also, as well as other projects of reading promotion, there is always the risk of discontinuity if it not consolidated as a public policy.
