CRUZ, Éderson da and DAL’IGNA, Maria Claudia. Pedagogy of affection: articulations among teaching, gender and sexuality in cinema. Sér.-Estud. [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.61, pp.95-116. Epub Feb 16, 2023. ISSN 2318-1982. https://doi.org/10.20435/serieestudos.v27i61.1718.
This article resumes the main results of a Doctoral research carried out in the South of Brazil, which investigates how gender, in articulation with sexuality, constitutes teaching in the context of the film The Class, a French film, directed by Laurent Cantet (2008). The research dialogues with the fields of Gender Studies in a poststructuralist perspective, Queer Studies, Teaching Studies, Film Studies, and Cultural Studies. Through the methodological procedure of screen ethnography, the study seeks to describe and analyze the film, from the perspective that this is a pedagogical cultural artifact, but that proposes to represent, in a central way, the school, the school curriculum, and teaching in their daily routine. The results presented here are also supported by a broader research project entitled “The production of meanings about affection, love and care in initial teacher education from a gender perspective”. For this article, it is emphasized that from the analysis of the pedagogical cultural artifact in question, the supported thesis is that gender, articulated with sexuality, constitutes a way of being a teacher that, when it is putting into practice, it operates by constituting what can be called as “pedagogy of affection”.
