Abstract

ROBASKI, Justina Bechi  and  KLEIN, Carin. SOFT MASCULINITIES IN K-DRAMA HELLO, MY TWENTIES!. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.72, pp.82-96.  Epub May 06, 2024. ISSN 2358-0194.  https://doi.org/10.21879/faeeba2358-0194.2023.v32.n72.p82-96.

The article is part of the theoretical perspective of Cultural and Gender Studies and analyzes the way in which the k-drama Hello, My Twenties! conveys representations of youthful masculinities. The methodology is associated with screen ethnography, making visible and problematizing images, thus observing manifestations of masculinities from South Korean cultural products. We pay attention to the behaviors, characteristics and feelings that young people should incorporate as gender subjects, enabling us not only to pluralize the understandings of contemporary youth, but to broaden the understanding that institutions and different places of culture convey pedagogies. According to the analysis, “soft” masculinity presents meanings linked to the feminine, but which do not contest the experience of heterosexuality. We understand that the artifact makes it possible to think of possible and plural ways of being a man and living masculinity, linked to the diversity of interests of a society.
