Abstract

SILVA, Robson Guedes da  and  HENNING, Paula Corrêa. FOR AN AESTHETIC OF QUEER EXISTENCE?! INTUITIONS, DISSENT AND EDUCATION. Revista da FAEEBA: Educação e Contemporaneidade [online]. 2023, vol.32, n.72, pp.250-265.  Epub May 06, 2024. ISSN 2358-0194.  https://doi.org/10.21879/faeeba2358-0194.2023.v32.n72.p250-265.

The essay in question seeks to present the knowledges that built the field of queer theory and discuss some notions that were important for its emergence as a conceptual field. Michel Foucault’s sexuality device and Judith Butler’s gender performativity have contributed to conform a vast conceptual repertoire, constantly used and questioned. From these readings, through bibliographical procedures, we intend to discuss the aesthetics of existence in Michel Foucault and in what ways we can think of it in articulation with the contemporary scenario and with queer studies. We realize that the current conservative practices are a reaction to the emergence of queer bodies and that their actions aim to circumscribe violence as a politics of death. As becoming, we can think of resistance as a productive path, fomenting other forms of life. Through the aesthetics of queer existence it may be possible to claim other ways of life.
