In this article I aim to question the use of autobiography for educational research, calling attention to the curriculum field and the unpredictability of events. I argue that autobiography is part of a deconstructive and performative movement with implications for life experiences. I also point out that, as an educational method and practice, it is more an intellectual process than a narrative one, since, as a form of investigation, it deals with the subjective complexities of our selves. Such assumptions are made mainly by my experience with the use of autobiography and the approximation to the theoretical defenses of Janet Miller, Elizabeth Macedo and Thiago Ranniery, that help me to answer that autobiography, in a post-structural perspective, can be a way of recognizing greater openness to education, curriculum and curriculum policy.
