Abstract

SILVA, Katiene Nogueira da  and  GATTI, Giseli Cristina do Vale. THE IDEAS OF DURKHEIM IN THE MANUALS OF HISTORY OF EDUCATION: SCIENTIFIC METHOD AND LAY MORALITY IN SOCIAL LIFE AND IN THE SCHOOL. Hist. Educ. [online]. 2019, vol.23, e93211.  Epub Nov 06, 2019. ISSN 2236-3459.  https://doi.org/10.1590/2236-3459/93211.

Analysis of the ideas of Durkheim contained in manuals of the History of Education, from foreign authors published in Brazil from 1939 to 2010. This study was based on Fernandes (1994), Pickering (2008), and Weiss (2009). Some manuals were found not to mention Durkheim directly, but addressed ideas near to his thought. Most of the others mentioned Durkheim, though in different intensities. In them, Durkheim was taken simultaneously as a source of information and analyses, but also as the bearer of an original and influential perspective on education, sociological pedagogy. In addition, critiques of his thought were found, coming above all from the authors of manuals linked to the field of Catholicism.
