Abstract

MARTIN, Ramon Lopez. School practices and teaching innovation in contemporary Spain. The reflection of key events in educational journals. Hist. Educ. [online]. 2024, vol.28, e133089.  Epub Mar 30, 2024. ISSN 2236-3459.  https://doi.org/10.1590/2236-3459/133089.

This article studies the evolution of school practices and teaching innovation processes in contemporary Spain, over the course of a century (1875-1975). And it does so by attending to the reflection that some of the events or key moments of this evolution have had in the main educational magazines of each historical period. The creation of the National Pedagogical Museum (1882), the Normal Schools Reorganization Decree (1931), the National Questionnaires for Primary Education (1953 and 1965) and the General Education Law (1970), as an announcement of the transition to democracy, constitute the basic referents chosen. The Boletín de la Institución Libre de Enseñanza, the Revista de Pedagogía, the Revista de Educación and the Revista Vida Escolar, some of the written media whose pages disseminate and analyze the tensions, changes and continuities of the evolutionary processes of improvement of teaching practice.

Keywords : School practices; teaching innovation; professional education journals; history of education; contemporary Spain.
