This study adressed with academic fraud - which includes plagiarism and what is commonly known as glue, fishing, queuing in Brazil and copianço in Portugal. The objective was to reflect on the impact of defining and sharing a Code of Conduct in the Higher Education Institution (HEI). The study is justified as Academic fraud is a set of practices of a student who tries to circumvent the rules defined in the scope of educational practice, demonstrating that he has knowledge that he, in fact, hasn’t. The research was conducted from literature review and document analysis. The incidence of the phenomenon is significant, indicating that glue is a common practice in schools and universities. The proposal is that universities urgently define codes of conduct to guide students and faculty to reflect on the consequences of their actions and decisions.
