The narrative of the paths taken by young people in the schooling process provides important elements for understanding the factors involved and/or determinants of school success or failure among black students. Studies indicate that even controlling the variables of social origin, there are still significant differences in process of formal schooling between blacks and whites. Thus, the article analyzed which factors explain educational trajectories marked by socio-racial inequalities. The concepts of habitus, social, cultural and symbolic capital provide beacons for analytical research. All agents, generally belong to families with low economic, cultural and social capital. The study showed similarities and dissimilarities on the paths taken inside the school system by black young classes. The text suggests that family and socio-community aspects links are relevant to the understanding of different paths trodden by the individuals in the education system.
