Abstract

FELDHAUS, Charles. Kant, Schiller and virtue in observations on the feeling of the beautiful and of the sublime. Conjectura: filos. e Educ. [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.spe, pp.49-58. ISSN 2178-4612.  https://doi.org/10.18226/21784612.v22.n.especial.04.

This study examined the Kant’s conception of virtue in the precritical text Observations on the feeling of the beautiful and the sublime and in the critical period as well as the Schiller’s conception of virtue in On Grace and Dignity showing mainly that there are some continuities between position of Kant about virtue in the pre-critical period and the position of the critical period of moral thought in the light of the debate between Kant and Schiller about the role of feelings in the conception of virtue or moral perfection.
