The aim of this paper is to discuss the incorporation of the local referred/belonging cultures in the teaching-learning process of the school of the Maracujá quilombola community, located in Bahia, Brazil. The theoretical framework includes: Amorim (2014), Candau and Moreira (2008), Gadotti (2012), Gomes (2012), Quijano (2005), Santos (2012, 2019), Sacavino (2020), among other authors. The methodology of qualitative nature and descriptive character presents data from interviews with three leaders and two teachers from the Maracujá quilombola community. The findings allowed to realize that the intercultural dialogue drives to reflections, attitudes and struggles with a view to build up new social alternatives that lead education to a path of traditional knowledge and to the appreciation of quilombola educational praxis as a practice of Community Education linked to the social.
