The concept of educating cities is related to the development of a sense of citizenship through the integration of educational practices in urban spaces. By analyzing how cities can act as educational agents to promote inclusive education and sustainable development, the objective of this work is to relate the perspective of the City that educates and transforms with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN), especially goals number 4 (quality education) and 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). Using bibliographic and documentary research as a methodology, the aim is to identify and establish relationships between the SDGs and the promotion of the idea-driven city that educates and transforms, considering all dimensions of human life in society. The results indicate that educational practices in urban areas have contributed significantly to the formation of citizenship and to the strengthening of citizens' sense of belonging to territories, especially at the local level. It is concluded that educating cities play a fundamental role in building more just and sustainable societies, in line with the SDGs, and that it is necessary to continue disseminating these practices to ensure equity and inclusion in all urban contexts. However, despite these findings involving the alignment between principles and practices, there are many opportunities to promote the horizontalization of relations between the State and civil society, from a perspective that considers the potential of a political and pedagogical proposal that has Education as the main driver of local development at its core.
