Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Saulo Macedo de  and  LOPES, Rieuse. The Mock Jury as an active methodology in the Mathematics Bachelor's Degree. Ed. Mat. Deb. [online]. 2023, vol.7, n.13, e1m.  Epub Jan 01, 2023. ISSN 2526-6136.  https://doi.org/10.46551/emd.v7n13a13.

The study presented here was guided by the objective of analyzing the experience of a Mock Jury, in the Degree in Mathematics at the Universidade Estadual de Montes Claros, understanding the effects of this active methodology on the students' training path. To this end, in the History of Calculus: Origins and Development course, it was proposed that the students held a Mock Jury to discuss the authorship of Calculus. To support the study and reported experience, we resorted to theoretical assumptions relating to active methodologies. We used methodological aspects covered in a Mock Jury, that is, planning and performance. We concluded that the undergraduate students were successful in arguing in scientific practice, in the dialogues, in autonomy and in critical opinion.
