This article focuses on the potential of Collaborative Critical Research - PCCol from the (re) signification of two theoretical and methodological categories - meaning and significance and zone of proximal development - limited to the works carried out by the research group Language, Education, Teacher Education and Childhood - LEFoPI / CNPq / UFJF. The researches carried out within the group are based on the principles of cultural-historical perspective, especially on the thought of Lev Vygotsky, in the field of psychology, and Mikhail Bakhtin, in the field of philosophy of language. The categories of meaning and significance, and zone of proximal development are circumscribed by the collaborative critical research theory and methodology. Theoretical because it presents and holds a vision of the subject enrolled in a certain society, history and culture. Methodological because the categories help analyzing the “production-generation” of the data when it joins a certain way of thinking the subjectivity from the discursive scene. The categories are categories of interpretation. The choice of these references is guided by the search of understanding the dialogic movement in the production of knowledge as an element for a revolutionary praxis, which enables a self-transformation and a transformation of the space of action in /with the world.
