This introductory text is to put into context the topic of “Teachers education and knowledge about psychology” aiming at provoking questions and reflections for the discussions of the relevant Work Group. As the topic suggests that the knowledge of psychology constitutes the necessary background for teaching, we have placed the ongoing trend at teaching professionals in education and based on research of the knowledge which is the basis of the teaching profession. In the context of this current ongoing movement, which searches for a redefinition between university knowledge and the professional activity, is that we will analyze and discuss the background of psychology for teaching education.
