Research report that begins with a conceptual discussion of educational indicators, their applicability and limits, as well as the characterization and exemplification of synthetic indicators. It analyzes the school as a space to produce educational indicators based on the case of a state public school that organized, systematized and analyzed information, tracing a profile for student passing and failing in the final grades of basic education. It argued that teachers in their action produce data that, when worked up are relevant indicators for the school community to provide a new vision about his own work and on own school data that favor the proposal of strategies for improving education. Considerations about the pedagogical repercussions and the paths to advance the democratization of public schools to give meaning and make the indicators found talk.
