ROHLING, Marcos. Moral Formation, Human Flourishing and Educated Public. The Education in MacIntyre’s Moral Theory. Educação e Filosofia [online]. 2018, vol.32, n.66, pp.1099-1129. Epub 22-Sep-2020. ISSN 1982-596X. https://doi.org/10.14393/revedfil.issn.0102-6801.v32n66a2018-17.
In this work, it is intended to discuss education in MacIntyre’s moral theory. To that end, the text is structured as follows: first, attention is drawn to the definition of education and its relation to social contexts, within which occurs involvement with practices; secondly, are discussed the objectives of education and educational institutions, notably the creation of an educated public; finally, in the third part, it discusses about the content of education. With this in mind, it is presented how the Scottish thinker conceives the curricular disposition so that their perspective of the education is realized, considering even the university's role in this endeavor. It will therefore be argued in this text that, through education, MacIntyre aims to solve many of the problems of contemporary morality through the creation of criteria of moral justification (an educated public) and education through practice.
