The purpose of this exposition is to discuss about the relationships between teachers’ authority and children’s rights. There are two starting points: on one hand, the findings of a research made with children, aiming to know the meanings they impute to their rights. On the other hand, there are manifestations and spontaneous depositions from teachers. What these children share the most is the longing for individual rights which assert them their development and conquest of autonomy. By their side, the teachers express frank rejection and fear from children’s rights, interpreting them as a frontal threat to teachers’ authority.
