SILVA, José Bonifácio Alves da. The limits of a white eurocentric curriculum and the expectations of a critical and anti-racist training in a degree in History. Sér.-Estud. I discuss the training aimed by a degree in History of a public university in the state of Parana, Brazil. The training is based on a critical perspective of history and education, but also on anti-racism. I present a tension between the expectations of forming anti-racist critical teachers and the white eurocentrism in the curriculum of the university course through data analysis collected, and inspired ethnographically, in its classes and pedagogical project, and via interviews carried out with students and teachers. In the curriculum of the History course involved in the study, criticisms and connivance with the white eurocentrism coexist ambivalently. Though Europe and the white, as referent points, are the main axes around which the curriculum still pivots, eventual initiatives of showing the historical indigenous’ and black people’s protagonism that serve to fight back the racist representations also take place.
