Emergency remote teaching has led schools to search for other assessment possibilities with regard to monitoring the teaching and learning processes. In order to understand how formative assessment processes have occurred in this period, five basic education teachers were interviewed. The data of this qualitative study, with a descriptive objective, were generated through narratives. The reports show uncertainties, and some paths outlined for assessment. We conclude that some technologies, when available, aid in assessing the teaching and learning processes. However, for the situations in which these technologies are not a possibility for all the students, teachers have turned to different strategies to propose learning activities.
