MATTOS, Miguel Ragone de. Trabalhadores urbanos e domésticos: a constituição federal e sua assimetria. Rev. Estud. Fem. [online]. 2009, vol.17, n.03, pp.871-878. ISSN 1806-9584.
The Brazilian Constitution established a lower level of protection rights to domestic servants, if compared with the rights given to regular workers. This asymmetry can be explained by particularities of this kind of job and the need to keep costs down, specially considering that domestic servants are not part of a capitalistic enterprise. However there are a series of non-recognized rights to the domestic servants that can not be explained by its incompatibility or cost. Perhaps this group is the focus of the next step of constitutional change, reducing the asymmetry between the rights of the domestic workers and the regular ones.
