The research had analyzed the modem pedagogical speech created in Brazil by the thought and action of some liberal and socialist educators that had influenced the built of the educational public system between 1930 and 1990. This article presents some issues that indicate the different meanings that liberal and socialist educators had given to the modem pedagogical speech. It empathizes that whl1e the liberal educators did not agree to take part of political parties, the socialist educators assumed that without the presence of political parties they couldn’t fight for the public school.
