Starting from the broadened consensus concerning teacher salaries be part of the public politics field, the expression enhancement of teachers hip may be understood as a possible education of the educator, a State interference in the decisions regarding quantity and quality of formation required to perform their tasks. Thus, the present article aims to socializing the results of a study on how to articulate the career and salaries of the magisterial class in the U.5.A., special/y during the "Reagan Era". The revision was carried out in the periodics Harvard Educational Review, Sociology of Education, American Educational Research Journal, The Vocational Guidance Quarterly, and Phi Delta Kappam. Out of 57 articles, 16 dealt with the merit pay as a mean to reward and stimulate the teacher to work harder and better. The analysis of these writings suggests a set of investigations and new perspectives in the interpretation of the teachers salary at the present Brazilian momento.
