If we are interested in school education and wish that this conduct their social purposes you need to consider the work individually and collectively develop teachers in schools. This is the central question of the reflections presented in this article, which aims to contribute to an analysis of teaching that consider the point of view of activity. This is a theoretical text, drawn from the research in the field of education and work sciences, especially the ergonomics of activity. In the text, we are initially addressed some legacies of research on teaching. Then the dialogue is sought with the ergonomics of activity, bringing their contributions to raise questions and establish the fundamental thesis of this text: it is necessary to consider teaching as work, access to the complexity of work situations and take consequences of them. In the text, the problems brought by the notion of activity occupies a central place.
