The purpose of this study is to reflect on the social representations of students who are completing the high school at a public school, regarding the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and interactive multimedia. In this perspective, this research project aims to identify the students´ perceptions and social representations about the ICT and interactive multimedia and analyze the possible relationships between their social representations and the teachinglearning process in the school context. The study is based on Lévy (1993, 1999, 2000), Moscovici (1978, 2003), Bourdieu (1996, 2005), among others. The research, carried out in the city of Guarujá, state of São Paulo (Brazil), was developed in two stages. In the first, we used a semi-structured questionnaire for eighty students and, in the second stage, semi-structured interviews were carried out with twelve students. The representational elements were analyzed under three dimensions: 1. the mediatic language and the school context; 2. The (re)construction of representations and practices/habitus; and 3. the sense/meaning of the ICT. The results of the research showed the ICT are structuring elements for the current information society and generate a productive and educational process: new forms of communication, languages, interaction and learning (new habitus).
