The purpose of this paper is to discuss the curricular policy implemented by the State of São Paulo, from the year 2008, considering, however, not only the proposed Curriculum and the definition of the contents, but extends the analysis to the discussion of policy evaluation, bonus by results and emphasis on teaching materials. These instruments together outline the school practice settings and the "way" to be followed in the public school learning process in São Paulo. Thus, the state defines the content to be learned not only the text of the Proposed Curriculum, but in tune with its purpose and ideals: to maintain hegemony through a curriculum that reflects broadly the defense of an education in line with the market.
