It is considered that educating in emotions is a fundamental task, which should be assumed by parents and professionals, since the development of their competence, allows to enhance other aspects of their life. In recent years, research in the field of emotions has increased, however, in the area of early intervention and special education there are few specific studies. This research, carried out through focus groups, looks to identify the importance that both parents and professionals give to emotional competences and their implications for the child’s development. The results suggest that professionals and parents believe they handle emotional aspects, however, their management is only in some categories and empirically, based on their personal experience. The need for training in the subject and the monitoring of the emotional state of children, parents and professionals is clear.
