This paper shows the experience of a public university offering teacher training to medical preceptors through ongoing training. To analyze the effectiveness of the proposed course, a survey was conducted with alumni preceptors. The electronic questionnaire was the instrument used to facilitate this work, which examines how the apprehension of new knowledge has been used in practical settings. The analysis of these responses will help to understood that the tutors took a break from traditional patterns of teaching, starting to act as protagonists of changes that enable an innovative medical education, to mold the current needs of Brazilian society.
