SILVA, Marlon Ribeiro da; GALLIAN, Dante Marcello Claramonte y SCHOR, Paulo. Literature and Humanization: a Didatic Experience of Humanistic Education in Health Care. Rev. Bras. Educ. Med. [online]. 2016, vol.40, n.1, pp.93-101. ISSN 1981-5271. https://doi.org/10.1590/1981-52712015v40n1e01542015.
Considering the importance of the debate on humanization in health care, this paper presents results relevant to a teaching experience of humanistic education with students and health professionals based on aesthetic and reflective experience caused by the reading of the novel “Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship” by J. W. V. Goethe. Using qualitative methodology, which combined participant observation and verbal life history, we investigated the potential of this experience as a means of fostering humanistic training and humanization. Data were analyzed based on Hermeneutic Phenomenology. Inspired by the aesthetic philosophy of Friedrich Schiller and Immanuel Kant, it was observed that reading the novel, with the support of the methodology used in the activity, provided what we believe to be a humanizing education through the “expansion of the art experience” and “ludic awakening”.
