KURIHARA, Julia Tiemi y BALISCEI, João Paulo. JAPANESE, OPEN YOUR EYE: racism, xenophobia and misogyny against yellow women. Revista Teias [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.69, pp.273-293. Epub 28-Feb-2023. ISSN 1982-0305. https://doi.org/10.12957/teias.2022.65978.
This article shows many hating manifestations to yellow women. Thus, its objective is to discuss the xenophobic, racist and misogynist violences, where it reachs japanese female identities in the contemporanity. For that, it is necessary to make use of the VISUAL CULTURE STUDIES as a teóric and methodological contribution, once it considers that the images present new ways of seeing the world and being at it, in its various manifestations. From the bibliographic search, it was realized the historical, cultural and social contextualization of the Japanese immigrants arrival in Brazil. Then, an analysis of discourses, works of art and other visualities was done to permeate the stereotyped meanings built about the yellow women identities, in particular, in the context of COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, it is concludible that there is a potential to build new narratives to rupture prejudices and to respect the differences, once the contemporary society is composed of multiple identities interacting with each other.
