In Colombia, the incorporation of woman to formal education took place during the first decades of the 20th century. This incorporation grew steadily during the century but it was given a stronger impulse in the decade of the 70's. Today, with differences relating to factors such as socioeconomic status and living-region Colombian women have accessed to all the educational levels -something unthinkable a hundred years agoand one may say that to a certain extend nowadays women exert one of the social rights conferred to them in the context of their equality to men as citizens: the right to education. But, what has changed for women in relation to education in terms of inclusion? Has education had an impact on their status, their identity and their condition as citizens? To what kind of justice can one refer taking into consideration the process of incorporation of women to education in the Colombian historical context? This paper aims at giving answers to some of these questions in the framework of a historical-sociological research on citizenship carried out it in Colombia by the research group Education and Political Culture.
