In this article we intend to build a path that helps to show, through multiple documents, ways to measure school record triggered in different decades of the 20th century and which could highlight speeches and evaluation practices. We will analyze, combining reflection to the material aspects of the records, school documents and others bureaucratic apparatus of the State, pointing to different aspects of school culture. To do so, we use part of a St. Catharina´s school collection, chosen between a lot of documents and by default that this kind of school means in childhood education. The research made possible to locate different formats of records that “survived” to time and disposition process, offering us tracks about school practices used to measure knowledge between the years of 1934 and 1971.
