To relate training and teaching practice has been a challenge to researches on teacher education, which should be understood as a ongoing process. In this sense, this paper discusses data from a study that sought to specifically investigate the degree courses in Biology, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry in their educational, pedagogical and practical aspects, from the perspective of teachers working in the primary and secondary levels of public and private schools of a city in Minas Gerais who had developed their training in a prestigious institution in this city. Through semi-structured interviews, we collected data that allowed us to identify the teachers’ knowledge acquired throughout their undergraduate program, highlighting the experiential knowledge built through mandatory internships. In addition, the data allowed us to develop suggestions for the improvement of training courses in those areas of knowledge and confirm the hypothesis of the study, i.e., the configuration of the field of undergraduate education in the last decade has undergone little change.
